Getting Started In The New Season
– There will be a
panel of judges ready to answer any and all questions members have on taking
care of camellias from fertilizing, pruning, bug and drought damage, die-back,
etc. Members will be asked to
share issues about the summer care of their plants. New members will be invited
to tell what they want to gain from the club.
There will be gib available for purchase by club members.

Guest Speaker –Florence Crowder
of Louisiana will speak on Antique Camellias.
Florence has traveled extensively searching for and propagating many of
the older varieties that are gradually being lost.

Christmas Party/ Auction
- Jim Oates, our
Master Auctioneer, will conduct this part of the program. There will be no
formal meeting; this will be a time to enjoy our fellow club members. The club
will provide the holiday meats, potatoes and gravy for our annual buffet.
Members will provide the side dishes and desserts.

Planning for the Annual Camellia Show/ Mini-Show
- Members are
encouraged to bring blooms and learn the procedures for entering their blooms.
All facets of the operation of the show will be discussed.

Taking Care of Your Camellias
Experts will advise on pruning, fertilizing, spraying etc. so your prize plants
will come through the next months
happily. Members are encouraged to
discuss their own successes and seek help for their problem plants..

Photo Contest/Annual Election of Officers
- Members are
encouraged to bring their best photos for this four-part member-judged photo
contest: 1) Best Camellia Bloom; 2)
Best Camellia in the Landscape; 3)
Best Camellia with People or Animals;
4) Best Camellia in a Floral Arrangement.
All Photos submitted must be new photos
from this camellia season. Annual
Election and results to follow. Possibly, Vera will have slides or Power Point
presentation of camellias in U.K.—Chiswick House or maybe Mount Edgcumbe where
the U.K. national collection of camellias is.
