2006-2007 Garden Tours

Vickie Baugh, chairperson of the Garden Tour Committee, announces the garden tour schedule.

Our Mobile Camellia Club is excited to receive support from our members who volunteered to offer private garden tours for fellow club members.

For the 2007 Season - We will have the opportunity to visit the gardens of Walter Creighton, Brenda Litchfield, and Ronald and Vaudine Driskell.

For the 2008 Season - The club garden tours continue with tentative plans for Jim and Eileen Dwyer's and Forrest Latta's properties.

For the 2009 Season - The club garden tours continue with tentative plans for Rick Crow's, and Ray and Kay Calloway's properties.

As we continue planning for tours, we will also pass around another list for members to sign if they would like to host visits.

 Winter, 2007 Tours

The tours will begin the first Sunday in January with a visit to Walter Creighton's property.  Walter Creighton's camellia viewing will be a true privilege for members to visit.  This will be a significant tour opportunity.  We will be viewing plants that produce some of the nation's top winning camellia show blooms.

On the first Sunday in February, tours will continue with a visit to Brenda Litchfield's property.  The waterfront property holds over 150 camellias. Within the last ten years, Brenda Litchfield discovered and rescued the plants from years of overgrowth and neglect.  Newly grafted and air-layered plants are also on the site.

On the third Sunday in February, our third and final tour of the season will be to Ronald and Vaudine Driskell's property.  Ronald Driskell has nearly forty-years experience with camellias.  Over 150 plants can be seen in various ages of growth.  Most plants are grown outdoors, with some additional plants for viewing in a greenhouse.
